Here we are! Since Pictaero was launched in August 2007, we have hosted your pictures! The database now has over 5000 pictures online! We achieved a lot of things and we will keep on offering our members more capabilities and functions in the months to come. To celebrate this new stage in our growing, I have asked the whole team to tell me about their favourite photos. But first of all, I would like to show you the 5000th picture that was accepted. It was sent by Marc-A. Veillard:
Marc-A. has actually chosen a picture of Singapore Airlines' first A380:
Marc-A. explains his choice, "It was a historical moment for Airbus and Singapore Airlines, that was the first A380 to be used in commercial flights and is ready for her ferry flight. The picture is nice on a technical point of view."
Vincent chose a picture of Concorde, taken by Jean-Philippe Lemaire:
Vincent says that he chose that photo because, "with such a cloudy sky, the picture shows one of the most wonderful elements of the supersonic plane which has impressed a whole generation of plane-lovers."
Simon prefered a picture of an A380 (yet another one!!!):
Guillaume chose a picture that blends two of his passions; civil and military aviation, "In addition, my first dream was to become a pilot in the Air Force. So that photo sums it all up."
Guilhem got us a wonderful shot, "a beautiful air to air photo of two Russian planes. The reasons for choosing that picture are on the one hand technical (air-to-air and the sunset) and on the other hand specific to the topic: two unusual (Russian) planes and an unusual scenery."
As for myself, I prefered an old aircraft, a F8F:
Actually, I have many favourite pictures, such as a Philippine Airlines A330, or a beautiful picture of a DC-2 taken over the wing. I had to make a choice. So, amongst the planes I worship, the Bearcat has a special place in my heart. Quite irrational; The Hellcat and the Wildcat are part of that list too. Here, the picture is rather old, but of good quality. That's why I chose it.
Still, I can't resist showing you the DC-2 with an old KLM colour scheme. Many thanks to Quentin for that photo!
Many thanks to you all! Now, our next step is to reach 10,000 photos as soon as possible! That's our greatest hope!
