Hello everyone,
I am not going to type my weekly article on our team's choice this morning.
The team and I would like to explain why the site was down this morning from 6:30am GMT to 8:30am GMT.
We had a technical issue that was solved two hours after we had a server update.
We would like to deeply apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused you.
It was neither an attack nor a bill which had not been paid it was simply a mistake on our server settings.
We hope that it did not bother you too much and we also hope that you did not miss us that much
Have a good day and see you soon for our weekly screeners' choice.
As promised, this week's selection is much more varied than last week's. On the agenda, Eastern Europe, military and a few airliners.
Willem R. sent us a series of pictures taken in the Balkan area; you will see extraordinary machines, such as a Mi-17 apparently still flying and a pile of Shenyang F-5 in Albania!
Let's pass on to the rest. Some airliners of course. Amongst them, a wonderful MD-90 belonging to Hello taken by night and a bunch of Embraer 120 Brasilia at Clermont-Ferrand, in France.
Eventually, we have some military aircraft: the Mirage 4000 shown at Paris - Le Bourget museum and the Avro Vulcan that still flies in the United Kingdom.
And sorry for being a tiny bit late. I hope you have enjoyed our choice! See you next time for our weekly Screeners' Choice.
Here we are again on a more regular basis. This week, aside from the airliners (although you may be surprised to see some changes), you won't seem much. For instance, a F-4 Phantom II dating back from 1992!!! Many thanks to Mr Hirsch for such a photograph!
Then, we have quite a number taken during night time or at dusk. Well, the effect is awesome!
Finally, from the oldest (a DC-3 in a museum) to the newest (Singapore Airlines' first Airbus A330-300) here are the airliners!
That's all for today. I hope our choice will be more diversified next time. However, you must admit that it is not easy to get anything else than an airliner with such a weather these days! Wait and see ... See you next time for our weekly Screeners' Choice.
On behalf of the whole team, I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year for 2009; which - we hope - will bring you (and your family) success and good health.
We had a great year in 2008 with you; it was our first full year, having started in September 2007. Thanks to your faithfulness and a great number of visits, you have proved that the existence of a multi-language website about aircraft photo sharing was possible, with a different approach compared to other sites.
Thanks to your comments, remarks and reports, we have done our best to improve our screening procedures by trying to being aware of all types of pictures. We have been able to provide you with a fast and quality screening procedure thanks to our team of (seven) screeners.
2009 will see the continuation of our efforts, hoping you will continue your journey with us.
Sometimes, within the team, we must be reading each other's minds, or at least we must have the same thoughts at the same time! For instance, this week, amongst the thirteen pictures that have been chosen, four were taken by night or at dusk. It is true that it looks awesome, but it is quite amazing to know that we have all picked at least one like that!
Before we continue, I would like to have a special thought for the victims of the Air New Zealand aircraft that crashed last week in the Mediterranean Sea; hoping to have more news in the days to come.
And now, let's move onto General Aviation with, among others, a wonderful shot of a Bücker 131 flying over the water.
Eventually, we have a few airliners; small ones such as a Swiss Air Ambulance Challenger 604 and huge ones with the interior of an Antonov An-124.
That shall be all for today. I hope you will have a good week, seeing you next Monday for our weekly Screeners' Choice.
